1. Data We Collect

QiwraLink collects minimal data to provide recovery services: account name and email, tag labels, scan events (timestamp, hashed analytics identifiers, and IP address for security blocking), chat/call relay metadata, and optional finder GPS coordinates when the finder explicitly consents in their browser.

2. Lawful Basis for Processing

  • Contract: providing tag activation, owner dashboard, and finder relay services you signed up for.
  • Legitimate interests: fraud prevention, IP blocking, service security, and aggregated analytics (where consented).
  • Consent: optional finder GPS location and non-essential analytics cookies.
  • Legal obligation: records we must retain for tax or law enforcement requests.

3. Location Data & Consent

When a finder chooses to message or call through an anonymous tag, we may ask for their browser's permission to access GPS. This is optional, shown clearly to the finder, and sent only to the tag owner to assist recovery. Each scan is a standalone event; we do not track finder movements over time.

4. IP Addresses, Retention & Blocking

We log IP addresses to power the "Block IP" security feature. Scan logs are automatically purged after 90 days unless required for an active security investigation. Analytics event data is retained for up to 12 months in aggregated form.

Your UK-GDPR Rights

Under UK data protection law, you have specific rights regarding your information:

  • The right to access: Request a copy of the data we hold on you.
  • The right to erasure: Request deletion of your account and associated tag/chat logs.
  • The right to restrict processing: Object to how we use your data.
  • The right to data portability: Receive your data in a structured format where applicable.

5. Cookies & Similar Technologies

We use essential cookies (session login) required for the dashboard. With your consent, we use Firebase Analytics on the store to understand how visitors use our site. You can accept or reject non-essential cookies via the banner on first visit. Rejecting non-essential cookies does not block tag scanning or messaging.

6. Sub-processors

We use trusted providers including hosting infrastructure, Microsoft 365 (email), Stripe/PayPal (payments), Firebase/Google (optional analytics), Apple Push Notification service, LiveKit (secure voice), and IP geolocation for store region detection. Data is processed under contract and only as needed to deliver the service.
